Healthier senior citizens by Angie Fielden, C P T

hat would it take to bring better health to our "wiser and more experienced generation?' Can you remember back before you started having all the medical problems you are having today? When did you start taking all the medicine you are now on? How many extra medicines are you taking as a result of some prior medicine you were taking and it caused a completely different problem? There are many great books written by doctors who believe that if hormonal levels were maintained properly throughout one's life, there would be less medical problems in the golden years. This is generally agreed. Basically, when your hormones start to become deficient, your body shows signs and symptoms. What would you do if your stomach started to growl and hurt with hunger pains? You would eat, right? Or how many times do you let your car run out of gas before you finally say, "My gas tank is getting low so I had better fill it up or I will be walking again."? Well, the same thing should happen when your body is telling you that your hormones are getting low. There are symptoms that tell us we are low on hormones, symptoms like, not sleeping through the night, short-term memory loss, moodiness, loss of energy, loss of muscle mass, harder to loose weight, vaginal dryness, loss of bone density, dry skin and loss of sex drive. Most of these are pretty easy to restore or get rid of. With a proper hormonal assessment and correct interpretation of hormone levels, you could be quickly returned to a healthier senior citizen. Bio-identical should be your hormone of choice ... it is the closest chemical structure to your body and is derived from a soy-based plant or yam plant. There are no additives or side chains like most manufactured and FDA-approved drugs. Most physicians give manufactured drugs as a first choice, but you can make the choice to use Bio-identical instead. Find a compounding pharmacy that specializing in Bio-identical Hormone Replacement and see if you can get an appointment time to get a "free" assessment on your hormone situation. This takes 30 minutes to one hour. The pharmacy staff will make a recommendation to your own physician after they have completed their assessment on you. Your doctor will be in the loop the whole tine and will basically make the decision on the hormones you will be taking. The hormone specialist can talk to your doctor about Bio-identical hormones if you need them to. This should be something you act on sooner than later. Let's get on the road to a "healthier senior citizen."
